Following the success of the 2008 cycle dedicated to
digs and recent discoveries in Egypt, specifically
in prehistory, the “association” (not-for-profit) «
Université dans la ville », proposes for the
2009-2010 season a new cycle of conferences along
with screenings and dedicated to research and
discoveries in the Nile valley. They will host Luc
Watrin and concentrate on general Egyptology
subjects following a chronology covering the periods
in question. Specific aspects will be discussed such
as the role of territorial conflicts in building the
Egyptian State and Egypt’s relationship with its
neighbors.

Building the Egyptian State under the first 3
dynasties : the saga of kings Narmer, Khasekhemoui
and Djoser.
03 October 2009
The Old Kingdom. King Snefrou and the pyramids of
famous builders of the IVth dynasty : Kheops,
Khephren and their successors.
10 0ctober 2009
The Middle Kingdom: re-establishing royal authority
under the Montouhotep, Sesostris III and Aménemhat
III (XI et XII dynasties) and the Canaan episode
called the Hyksos period (XV et XVI dynasties).
17 October 2009
The New Empire (XVIII, XIX et XX dynasties): Ahmosis,
The monotheist adventure of Amarna (Akhenaton), the
Ramsesses and the « Sea peoples » attack.
07 November 2009
The treasure of the kings of Tanis and the Third
Intermediary Period : XXI et XXII dynasties.
